R指Reason，以“时间、金钱、教育、职业、性格、关系、身理、心理、环境”这九大原因黄金点为脉络，保证言之有物。

以Do you like cooking?为例，

时间：I’m afraid I don’t. Cooking, I think, is kinda time-consuming for me, especially when I have a heavy workload.

金钱：Well, I do like cooking. It’s really economical.

教育：Well, ACTually I don’t know how to cook, but cooking is a skill of prACTical use, so I’d like to learn in the future.

职业：Of course I do! I have always wanted to be a chef!

性格：Well, I do, cuz you know what, cooking by myself makes me independent./ Not at all, I’m a lazy bone and cooking is too complicated for me to learn.

关系：Absolutely! I always cook for my boyfriend. It’s a GREat way to bond us together.

身理：Yeah you can say that. Cooking by oneself is really a healthy lifestyle. Most of the time you don’t have to worry about diarrhea that much.

心理：Yes I do. Cooking is a GREat pastime for me. It adds spice to my life!

环境: Not really. You know, if you cook Chinese food, the kitchen will get reaaally smoky, choky, and messy.

RIC中C代表Contrast, 通过对比人物、时间、空间来拓展答案。

同样的话题： Do you like cooking?

对比人物：Well, to be honest with you, cooking is not what I’m interested in doing, while my sister, who’s a housewife, really enjoys spending time in the kitchen.

对比时间：Well, I do. I didn’t used to like it, but later I found it quite entertaining.

对比空间：I’m not really into it. But that really depends.When I’m back home, I would cook some dishes, and when I’m at campus, I would just forget about cooking and eat at the dining hall for convenience.

有了思路做铺垫，基础相对薄弱的学生，需要着重训练词汇搭配和基础语法的准确性，保证grammatical accuracy。比如“what are the advantages of online shopping?”很多同学在毫无准备的情况下很有可能脱口而出：“I think one advantage of shopping online is that it’s convenient and it save time.”很明显，save应当改成saves。基础相对较好的学生可以积累更多的低频词汇和复杂句型，体现lexical resource和grammatical range。
