The first one I can think of is Yangtze river, the third longest river in
the world, and the longest in Asia. I don’t know exACTly how long it is, but I
think it’s about 6000 kilometers or something.
Honestly, I don’t know what it looks like. I’ve never seen it in person.
But there’s a branch called Xiang river which lies here in Changsha. Every
evening, you could see many local residents taking a stroll, fishing or just
chilling on the river bank.
As for why I think it’s important, well, firstly, Yangtze river contains an
enormous amount of water power. Have you ever heard of the Three Gorges Dam?
It’s a power plant built on Yangtze river which generates electricity for the
southern cities in China using hydro power. It’s extremely important because
it’s a sustainable way to produce electricity and to cut down the consumption of
fossil fuels which causes damage to the environment. Now, the Three Gorges Dam
has also become a must-go for tourists.
Moreover, in history, it was used not only for daily water use, but also
irrigation, agriculture and transportation, which explains why it’s like a
symbol of our country.
