1 人类依赖自然环境生存
Human depend on the environment for survival:….
我们需要饮用淡水；需要臭氧层(ozone layer)的保护，以免遭受太阳紫外线（ultraviolet rays）的强烈辐射；需要森林为我们分解二氧化碳(carbon dioxide)，产生氧气(oxygen)。
Human depend on the environment for survival: we need fresh water for consumption; we need the ozone layer to protect us from the sun’s burning UV rays; we need forests to break down carbon dioxide and produce oxygen for us to breathe.
2 全球变暖引发多种灾害
The Earth appears to be warming due to the GREenhouse effect. Scientists estimate that the average temperature could climb about 2 deGREes Celsius in 20 years. This change in the global climate would have disastrous results, including drought, coastal flooding and increased species extinction.
3 人类生存离不开物种多样性
Human beings are dependent on the Earth’s diversity of species. Wild species play a vital role in the maintenance of the planet’s ecological functions, yet every day on the planet 40-100 species become extinct.
4 人类活动对环境的影响
Human ACTivities impACT the environment, including clearing agricultural land; air, land and water pollution; urban and suburban development; and the introduction of invasive or non-native wildlife species.
5 工业化进程给环境的负面影响
The negative effect of industrialization on the environment has been known for years. The dangers associated with lead, carbon dioxide and other toxic materials were discovered.
6 个人保护环境的行为
By not littering, others will see how easy it is to ACTually walk to the garbage can. As I pick up trash, my peers will notice how much nicer and cleaner my surroundings seem, and will in turn want that for themselves. When I recycle something that has been used, they will see how simple and easy it is, and what a difference it makes.
