　　People of Han nationality in China have family name and last name. The characteristic of Chinese name is that family name is before the last name. For thousands of years, the paternal name has passed down from generation to generation. However, now more children have their maternal name. Generally speaking, the last name has one or two characters, representing parents’ wishes to their children. From the name of children, people can infer what kind of person parents wish their kids to be, and what kind of life to live. Parents attach great importance to giving name to their kids, because the name will accompany their children for the whole life.
