【范文一】
Is a name important? To some people, yes. They strongly believe that a name is responsible for a
person’s life. Therefore, they take all the trouble, trying various ways to search wonderful names for
themselves or their children, expecting the names would work magic for a glorious future.
To others, however, the answer is "NO". According to them, the name is a nothing but a lifeless code.
Being lifeless, a code is powerless, not to mention it is so called 'magic' of bringing a person success.
To achieve success, they say, opportunity may count, and one's own efforts definitely count, but a
name that simply function as the way of distinguishing one from another, obviously don't.
As far as I am concerned, a name is important in a sense. After all, the first thing that people learn
about a person is usually his name, and a name that sounds beautiful may give and leave people a
GREat first impression. However, it is not that important or powerful as to promise a person his bright
future. For a bright future, we need intelligence, honesty, sincerity and efforts more than just a
beautiful name.

二、句型用法：
1、伴随状语：
......... , trying various ways to search wonderful names for themselves or their children,
expecting the names would work magic for a glorious future.
2、According to them..... 句的分析（建议背诵）：
1）according to：常用的结构，本例在文中是个很好的过渡
2）nothing but：等于 only，仅仅
3）being lifeless：-ing 结构放句首，表原因
4）not to mention：更别提，等同于 not to speak
3、不定式作状语，插入语：to achieve success,they say, opportunity may count.......
三、短语与词组的用法
1、various：many 很好的替换词
2、distinguish A from B：区别，辨别
3、in a sense：在某种程度上，等同于 in some respects 或 to some extent.
4、as to：涉及到，等同于 when it comes/refers to.....
5、副词+动词：strongly believe，simply function

It is universally acknowledged that names play a significant part for both individuals and
organizations.Nowadays,a lot of attentions is being drawn to the change of names.Many people
change their names owing to the instruction of fortune tellers,expecting the names would work magic
for a glorious future.However,people's ideas vary on this issue.
To start with,some people hold the view that names may contribute to their fame or fortune,others
even maintain that the mental health and physical fitness will be influenced or even determined by
their names.In the second place,a GREat many people insist that the name is just a symbol,which is of
little significance.They even go so far as listing some famous figures with common names.
As far as I am concerned,for the sake of success,more significance should be attached to
intelligence,persisitence and diligence rather than one's names.therefore,it's time that we put an end to
this debate and put our heart into learning and working so that we may succeed and embrace a better tomorrow.
一、结构：现象；阐述两种对立观点；我的观点。
二、句型用法：
1、It 作为形式主语引导的从句：
It is universally acknowledged that......这个句子是所有相似例句中最好的，此外还有 it is
widely believed/accepted that.....等等，均不如此句高级。
2、两个经典的被动用法：
1）a lot of attentions is being drawn to..... 2）more significance should be attached to....
3、虚拟语气：
It's (high) time that we put an end to this debate. （put 是动词过去式）
It's (high) time that we should put an end to this debate.（put 是动词原形）
三、短语与词组的用法
1、常用短语：
1）owing to：由于。可作表语和状语，之前可加逗号与前句隔开；近似等同于 because of
（不加逗号，不作表语），due to（之前不用逗号），on account of （较正式）和 thanks
to（用于肯定句）
2）contribute to：有助于，促成（好的方面）；等于 make a contribution to...；近似等同于
result in, lead to.
3）表示“认为”：hold the view that,be convinced that, insist, argue, maintain, claim, believe...
当然还有低级的 think,say.....
附一：这一年的题目属于观点对比类，由题干来看，写作条理不容易混乱，最难的在于如何为
每个观点准备合适的理由，这里涉及到的是两方面问题：想出理由、分配理由。不论是同意一方还是中立于两方，总需要把同一倾向的理由分成两部分，分别用于阐述一方立场和个人观点。
附二：可以注意到，虽然两篇范文中我的观点在最后表达了一个倾向性，但略有区别，范文一让步的态度更加明显，而范文二基本看不到让步。在看范文一的时候，我立刻把“让步”与 every coin has two sides 联系起来，但仔细想想这是无法建立联系的。every coin has twosides 是讲的是从 coin 这个主体的本身出发，而 name 的问题是将其当成客体，由充当主体的人们去评价。所以，它们观察的方向是相反的，所以 coin 一句不能适用于本例。由此总结：1）我的观点只需顺着一方观点进一步阐述就好，避免让步带来的困惑； 2）谚语有其适用场合，运用需谨慎。
