【摘要】弄不清指代现象会影响阅读理解

代词即指代已经出现过的名词或信息的词。使用代词的目的是为了避免重复,即避免重复使用同一个名词,代词的出现是以名词的存在为前提的。弄不清指代的对象,会影响阅读理解,文法题的正确性,想要准确无误确定代词的指代关系,可以参考下面两条判断原则:
1. 单复数原则。代词有单复数之分,单数性质的代词指代的一定是单数名词,复数性质的代词指代的一定是复数名词。

“就近”判断原则。如果单数性质的代词左侧出现了若干个单数名词,或复数性质的代词左侧出现了若干个复数名词,那么,就可以根据“就近”原则确定代词所指代的对象。“就近”原则就是代词指代距离最近的名词。
例:
1. Yet those who stress the achievement of a general consensus among the
colonists cannot fully understand that consensus without understanding the
conflicts that had to be overcome or repressed in order to reach it.
2. Tissues or cells from another individual (except an identical twin,
whose cells carry identical self-marker) ACT as antigens; because the immune
system recognizes transplanted tissues as foreign, it rejects them.
例1中代词it,其单数性质表明指代的一定是一个单数名词,但是左侧出现的单数名词一共有两个,分别是achievement,
consensus;根据“就近”原则,可以判断it指代consensus;
例2中有两个代词,it和them。It单数性质,指代单数;them复数性质,指代复数。结合就近原则判断,it指代the immune system,
them指代transplanted tissues。
最后,阅读中不能机械运用就近原则,遇到介词短语时,代词通常指代其中的核心名词,而不是介词后面的名词。
